About Lake County CA

Lake County CA is located in the pastoral California wine country, in the northwest portion of the state. The county is rural, 1,330 square miles in size, with a population of around 65,000. Lake County takes its name from Clear Lake, the oldest lake in North America. Above the lake rests majestic Mt. Konocti, which at 4,305 feet overlooks much of the county.

A few highlights:  Beginning in the late 1800’s, the healing hot springs of Lake County have been the foundation of a number of resorts, such as the highly acclaimed Harbin Hot Springs in Middletown. About Lower Lake CA

Lower Lake CA is located in the southern part of Lake County CA, near the south-most shores of Clear Lake. The city covers 2.7 square miles, with a population of approximately 1,300.

Lower Lake features a quaint downtown area, neighborhoods with character, multi-acre wooded parcels, productive farmland, flowing streams, rugged hills and valleys, the shores of Clear Lake itself—and spectacular views!

Lakeport was first settled by the Native American Pomo people several thousand years ago. The first business in modern Lakeport was established in 1855. As the county seat, Lakeport provides many legal, administrative, and clerical jobs.
