Lower Lake CA got its name from its location in the southern part of Lake County CA, as well as being near to the south-most shores of Clear Lake. With a population of approximately 1,300, Lower Lake is a real community. The town is 2.7 square miles in size, almost all land, with several flowing creeks.

The Konocti Unified School District has its seat in Lower Lake, and the town has both an elementary and high school.
