Beautiful Oak covered hills span the town of San Anselmo. Once named Junction, because of the railroad that ran through town, became San Anselmo after the Punta de Quintin land grant. The town began to grow after the building of the San Francisco Theological Seminary a "castle in the hills", which is now a local landmark.
Downtown San Anselmo has an old-town spirit, and is filled with antique shops making it a popular destination for collectors all over California. Numerous shops span over a half mile creating an antique lovers paradise. Downtown is home to numerous restaurants and cafes as well, so you can spend your afternoon in town without having to go elsewhere for lunch.
The city itself is set in a picturesque location. The views of the mountains are incredible creating breathtaking views of California sunsets. The streets are lined with trees, and the homes are beautiful. Parks dot the land and create perfect spots for picnics and gathering places.
